Autonomy for Police

Police performance is being criticised during the CJP protests in Delhi. But would those criticising it ensure police autonomy if they came to power? Will the police in India ever enjoy professional autonomy, or will they remain dependent on politicians for their postings and transfers?

Citizens must join hands with police professionals who have long been seeking freedom from the clutches of self-serving politicians. And yes, the police, too, must ensure honest and prompt service to citizens.
